AISD Board of Trustees At-Large Position 8
Jared Breckenridge is a senior at Huston-Tillotson University, studying to become an educator. He is a substitute teacher in the Austin school district. He serves as the board chair for the City of Austin College Student Commission and serves on the City of Austin Human Rights Commission. He was awarded Advocate of the Year by the Greater Austin Black Chamber of Commerce in 2019.
Leticia Caballero is the vice chair of the Austin Ed Fund, a nonprofit organization that financially supports projects in the Austin school district. She is the director of government affairs for a Texas-based health care company. She has served with various campus PTAs and was the tri-chairwoman of the district’s facility and bond planning advisory committee.
Mike Herschenfeld, management consultant, is the founder and CEO at education consulting company BlueScope Group, which works with school districts to manage systemic change. He started his career as a high school social studies teacher and has worked as a school administrator in Massachusetts. He more recently worked for the Texas Education Agency from 2016 through 2018 as manager of district strategy and innovation. He previously served on the district’s boundary advisory committee and currently serves on the district’s budget and finance advisory committee. He’s also a former volunteer at the Austin Animal Center.
Noelita Lugo is a public policy consultant focused on family-centered child support. She is a co-founder of Save Austin Schools, which was organized after the closing of schools last spring, including Pease Elementary which her children were attending. She served as the parent co-chairwoman of the Pease campus advisory committee. She’s also involved in coalitions including Reframe the Game, East Austin Coalition for Quality Education, AISD Equity Coalition and the Community Resilience Trust.
